Man suffers serious Missouri dog bite injuries in bulldog attack

A 53-year-old man was attacked and seriously injured by two bulldogs while he was playing with them in a backyard, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. A relative shot and killed one of the dogs who caused the St. Louis dog bite injuries, while the other dog was euthanized by authorities.

The man was playing with the dogs when one of them began to bite him and the other quickly followed suit. A neighbor heard the commotion and got help.

The St. Louis dog bite injuries sustained where to the arm and leg, and an officer said they were not considered life-threatening. The Missouri dog bite victim said the animals had never shown vicious aggression before or bitten him.

Tractor trailer driver dies in Missouri truck accident

November 20, 2007

A Missouri truck accident took the life of a Lee’s Summit man Tuesday, according to The Kansas City Star. The 62-year-old auto accident victim crashed into a pickup when it tried to turn in front of him.

The tractor trailer driver hit the pickup and ran off the roadway, where his truck overturned. The man wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck. The two 16-year-olds in the pickup truck suffered minor to moderate injuries in the Missouri truck accident.

Man involved in several Missouri medical malpractice lawsuits aiding in federal executions

Court records show a surgeon who has been the target of more than 20 medical malpractice lawsuits is aiding in federal executions, according to the Springfield News-Leader. The Missouri surgeon involved in the medical malpractice lawsuits participated in dozens of state executions until being barred by a federal judge.

The man was barred because of concerns over his dyslexia and lack of expertise. The surgeon was reprimanded for not disclosing his many Missouri medical malpractice suits.

Missouri auto accident claims one life, injures three others

November 13, 2007

The Springfield News-Leader reported that a 17-year-old was killed and three others seriously injured in a Springfield car accident Monday afternoon. The head-on collision happened when the teenager crossed the center line of the highway and struck an SUV.

The driver was killed immediately and his two teenage passengers were seriously injured. They were taken to St. John’s hospital in Springfield, along with a passenger in the SUV, in serious condition.

Unsafe toys recalled for lead poisoning risk

MSNBC.com reported that 175,000 more toys have been recalled in the recent slew because of dangerous levels of lead being present in the toys, which could potentially cause lead poisoning.

No reports of illness connected to the Curious George Plush Dolls that were recalled Thursday have been reported. The Chinese-manufactured toys were sold along with story and activity books at discount stores and toy stores throughout the U.S. between 2005 and 2007.

Parents are strongly encouraged to look through their children’s toys to ensure they will avoid Missouri lead poisoning injuries.

$3 million awarded in Missouri nursing home abuse and neglect suit

A man was ordered to pay more than $3 million to a patient’s estate in a Missouri nursing home neglect and abuse lawsuit, according to News Tribune. The owner-operator of two nursing home facilities was found liable in the death of a patient in 2004.

The Missouri nursing home neglect lawsuit alleges that the nursing staff at the facility were negligent, failing to care properly for the patient. The nursing home neglect victim developed bedsores and had to have above-knee amputations on both legs after becoming infected with gangrene.

The patient’s estate was awarded $500,000 in compensatory damages and the owner is to pay $2.5 million in punitive damages for in the Missouri nursing home neglect and abuse lawsuit.

Woman dies in St. Louis truck accident

November 2, 2007

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that woman died Friday afternoon in a Missouri truck accident when a trash truck rolled over on top of her car.

The dump truck was turning onto a road when it toppled over onto the woman, whose identity is not immediately available. The 48-year-old St. Louis truck accident victim died on the scene while she was pinned in her SUV.
