July Is the Second Most Dangerous Month for Motorists

July is one of our favorite months of the year. Summer is in full swing, the weather is incredible, and it all begins with Independence Day, one of our favorite national holidays. It’s a time for communities to come together to celebrate the freedom we all enjoy due to the sacrifices of our forefathers. From cookouts to fireworks, St. Louis is a great place to celebrate the fourth. However, it’s important to remember safety while you celebrate, as the Fourth of July has traditionally been a dangerous day for drivers.
According to a new report published by the Auto Insurance Center, July 4th is the deadliest day for drivers in the U.S. On average, 118 people lose their lives every year on the roads, totaling nearly 600 in the last 5 years. Contributing factors include increased travelers on the road due to the holiday and gatherings where alcohol is consumed. Although Independence Day is a time to celebrate our freedoms, it’s not a time to abuse those freedoms by putting others at risk. At Cofman Townsley, we encourage you to celebrate responsibly this July 4th to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday. In addition, July has been named the second most dangerous month of the year for drivers, so pay extra attention while out on the roads this summer.
Unfortunately, it is often the carelessness of other drivers that cause serious accidents, and when they do, we hold them accountable. If you’ve been injured in a car accident, give us a call for a free consultation. Our experienced St. Louis car accident attorneys will fully investigate the circumstances leading up to your crash and fight to get you maximum compensation for your injuries.
