St. Louis, MO

The 250-year-old city of St. Louis was founded by Pierre Laclede and Auguste Chouteau, who named it for Louis IX of France. Prior to its founding, the city was a center of Native American Mississippian culture. Its earthwork mounds on either side of the Mississippi River earned its nickname, the “Mound City.”

In 1904, St. Louis hosted the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, the World’s Fair, and the Summer Olympics. Since then, the city has celebrated the formation of many industrial companies and a vigorous revitalization effort, just a few of the reasons it received the World Leadership Award in 2006.

Today, the Gateway Arch provides the perfect frame for the city’s beautiful parks, industrial leaders, rich history, and wonderful people. The Cofman Townsley team is proud to call St. Louis home.

Clayton, MO

Not far from St. Louis, the city of Clayton, Missouri, serves as the county seat of St. Louis County. Known for its skyscrapers and midcentury modern architecture, Clayton is home to many young professionals.

The city hosts major events each year, including the St. Louis Art Fair and the Taste of Clayton food festival. The downtown business district is home to many restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, and many individuals served by the attorneys at Cofman Townsley.

East St. Louis, IL

Just across the river from our St. Louis office is East St. Louis. Founded in 1797 by Revolutionary War veteran Captain James Piggott, East St. Louis was named an All-America City in 1959 and boasts some of the greats of blues, rock, and jazz, including Ike and Tina Turner and Miles Davis.

The Gateway Geyser is a highlight of the city’s waterfront, shooting water to a height of 630 feet—the same height as the Gateway Arch in its sister city, St. Louis. With a rich history of early settlement and industry, the attorneys at Cofman Townsley are proud to serve the residents of East St. Louis.

Southern Illinois

Also known as “Little Egypt” for its fertile farmland reminiscent of the Nile River Delta, Southern Illinois is home to beautiful hills and forests–including Shawnee National Forest, charming towns, and hardworking people.

Southern Illinois shares a border with Missouri, along with custody of the Mississippi River as it winds its way south. But more than that, Missouri and Southern Illinois share a culture and a heritage, and we’re proud to say we’ve helped many injury victims across Southern Illinois over the last four decades get the compensation they deserve after an accident.
