Missouri Car Accident Results in Drawn-Out Insurance Dispute

February 25, 2014
When a person is injured as the result of a car accident, the victim will typically file an insurance claim in order to be compensated for damages. In some cases though, the insurance company will dispute the claim, which can lead to the need for the judicial system to issue a ruling in the case.
Take the case of an 86-year-old woman who suffered serious Car Accident Injuries as the result of a Franklin County crash she was involved in three years ago. She was driving along a Missouri road when a teenage driver in the oncoming lanes of traffic suddenly veered across the median and struck the victim’s car head-on.
KMOV 4 News reports the crash left the elderly woman in a local hospital for months as she recovered. Now, after numerous procedures and treatments, the victim has metal rods running throughout her body that cause extreme and constant pain.
Her medical bills have reached more than $800,000, and despite both the driver and the restaurant he was working for at the time of the crash being insured, the insurance company and it’s subsidiary have continually disputed the claim, saying they are not responsible for the victim’s losses.
